- Increasing importance and interest in the relationship between Environmental Science and Policy is drawing more applicants our discipline. A prerequisite for this program is a year in both Chemistry and Biology to provide a good foundation for further understanding. To assist our applicants who are without those prerequisites, ESP has developed fundamental courses in a graduate format. If you are interested in taking EVPP 506, Science of the Environment I, and EVPP 507, Science of the Environment II, please contact ESP Graduate Services office at 703-993-3187 for more information.
- Congratulations to Sameer Bhattarai, Kristin Wolf, (both advised by Dr. Ahn) and Jilian Fazio, (advised by Dr. Parsons) for being awarded scholarships from the Cosmos Club of Washington D.C. More details on their projects can be found in the Mason Gazette

Our own Dr. Carol Litchfield has recently been made a Fellow in the American Association for the Advancement of Science. This organization was founded in 1874 and has had many noted scientists among its ranks. Dr. Litchfield was specifically honored for her classic work on microbial ecology and biodegradation, especially halophilic bacteria and for service to industrial microbiology.
