Dr. Kraus' research is aimed at understanding how complex life cycles evolve in fishes. His work involves field investigations of recruitment and secondary productivity in estuarine and reef fishes as well as studies of migration and habitat use of coastal & marine pelagic fishes through application of natural, conventional, and electronic tags. Before coming to George Mason University in 2006, he conducted research at Texas A&M University at Galveston as a Texas Institute of Oceanography postdoctoral fellow. Dr. Kraus is also an instructor for courses in Animal Biology, Ichthyology, Estuarine and Coastal Ecology, Reef Fish Ecology, and Fisheries Science.
