Seminar on developing conservation science platforms in response to policy – March 20, 2014
March 20, 2014, Research Hall Showcase (Room 101), 11:00am
Adam Dixon, Landscape Analyst, World Wildlife Fund
“The chicken came before the egg; or developing conservation science platforms in response to policy”
The European Union Renewable Energy Directive identifies land use as a major driver of biodiversity loss and climate change. World Wildlife Fund has created a set of tools that help operationalize the policy with the support of conservation science and geography. We’ll review a proposal to identify high biodiversity grasslands across the globe, as well as a web-based deforestation monitoring stakeholder network in central Sumatra, Indonesia.
