Operation Rain Barrel 2014 video features ESP faculty

This video from Arlington Educational TV’s  The Green Scene on Operation Rain Barrel 2014 features associate professor Dann Sklarew and adjunct professor Jennifer Sklarew, both from the Department of Environmental Science & Policy.

This year is Operation Rain Barrel’s 3rd year.  It is an annual collaboration between George Mason University’s Arlington campus and Arlington Public Schools to engage students in a fun way to learn about environmental sustainability.

The Office of Community and Local Government Relations at the Arlington campus provides 25 plain rain barrels to participating Arlington Public Schools to be painted artistically. The painted rain barrels are showcased at Mason’s Arlington Campus Founders Hall Gallery starting Tuesday, April 21 through the Community Earth Week Fair on Saturday, April 26, 2014 (10:00 am to 4:00 pm) at Founders Hall (3351 N Fairfax Drive). The barrels are judged and the top three winning designs selected will receive monetary donations for their school’s PTA. Additionally, the artistic rain barrels are auctioned off at the fair through a silent auction. Proceeds from the auction benefit the Arlington County Council of PTAs’ scholarship fund and George Mason University’s Early Identification Program – a college prep program for middle and high school students who would be the first in their family to attend college.
