Anthropologist Screening 3 (PDF flyer)

On February 24, 2016, the University Libraries plans to screen Dr. Susan Crate’s documentary film The Anthropologist at the JC Cinema at 3:00pm. This event is co-sponsored by the departments of Environmental Science and Policy, Atmospheric, Oceanic and Earth Sciences, and Sociology and Anthropology.

Dr. Crate is an associate professor in the Department of Environmental Science and Policy at Mason and a notable anthropologist. The documentary, which was chosen by Indiewire as a top-ten, must-see film, shows her study of indigenous communities’ adaptation to climate change through her 13-year-old daughter’s own observation during their fieldwork together. Renowned anthropologist Mary Catherine Bateson, a former Robinson Professor at Mason, is also briefly interviewed in the film. Dr. Crate has agreed to lead a discussion and Q & A (20-30 minutes) after the 80-minute film is shown.
