Quote by Dr. Thomas Lovejoy becomes the launchpad of the Year of the Bird

“IF YOU TAKE CARE OF BIRDS, YOU TAKE CARE OF MOST OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS IN THE WORLD.”

–Dr. Thomas Lovejoy

This famous quote by ESP Professor, biologist and renowned “Godfather of Biodiversity” Thomas Lovejoy spearheads the launch of the National Geographic Year of the Bird in 2018, the centennial of the signing of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.

Susan Goldberg, Editor in Chief of National Geographic, pays homage to Dr. Thomas Lovejoy and explains why National Geographic is launching the Year of the Bird in her letter:  https://www.nationalgeographic.com/magazine/2018/01/editor-bird-world-environment-conservation/

The Year of the Bird brings National Geographic together with their partners the National Audubon Society, BirdLife International, and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology to present a 12-month-long celebration of birds using a variety of platforms.
