Video: A series of vignettes on our students in Environmental Science
In this post, we will be sharing four short videos about our ESP students – each will feature a different environmental science major at GMU. Each student is unique and have different interests and passions, but they all have a love of the environment in common.
The videos are produced by and shared courtesy of Dr. Jennifer Lewis, an ESP graduate student and independent filmmaker who is working on her (second) Ph.D. in environmental science and public policy.
Sharon Dorsey (B.S., 2018)
Dorsey, a track star at Mason, was a six-time Atlantic 10 Conference sprint champion and three-time Provost Scholar Athlete Award winner. She is also one of 152 nominees nationwide for NCAA Woman of the Year (one of two nominees from the Atlantic 10 Conference for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award). Dorsey also received the 2018 Susan A. Collins Leadership Award, given to the Mason athlete who best exemplifies the leadership qualities set by former Mason senior associate athletic director Sue Collins.
Bossuot is fond of travelling to explore the outdoors. Instead of going on expensive vacations, he and his friends load up in a car and travel across the country exploring national parks. He also loves to climb and regularly trains for his eventual pursuit of major mounting climbing. He switched majors after meeting Dr. Lee Talbot on a trip with Dr. Jennifer Lewis (current ESP Ph.D student) to film a scene for There Are Still Wizards, a film on Talbot that Lewis is working on. Bossuot is also an avid surfer having grown up in Virginia Beach.
Harrison, a lover of the great outdoors, is a top athlete in wrestling and the President of the Student Athlete Advisory Council. He is currently working at a legal firm in Washington, DC and hopes to attend law school in the near future.
Part 4 is forthcoming.
